Our Young Chickens

Ava
The big white chickens are Cornish-cross meat chickens and will be butchered soon. The other ones are young layers that will start to lay soon... if they are not all roosters! We got the young layers around Easter time.

Yep! They are only about 4 months old. The white broilers are only a week older then the other young ones. The white chickens will soon be butchered. We raise healthy meat chickens... by letting them eat on grass and get exercise, aka free range.

Thanks for visiting me! Once we started eating our own chickens I couldn't stand to buy chicken from the grocery store again! Eggs too, there is just no comparison!

Love your "girls"! I don't think I ever get tired of taking pictures of mine or looking at pictures of any chicken! Is that a syndrome?
Thanks for stopping by Homestead Revival™!

Hi ~ Happy you visited my blog , I've enjoyed reading your post too. Really like the galvanized pails with the tipsy look , guess I need to be on the look out for some holy buckets (LOL).
The scarecrows are wonderful that you all created , love that farmgirl. Ted is beautiful and I enjoyed meeting all the other farm critters too.
I'll be back often to visit and see what the " Chicken Keepers " are up to.

~ Many Blessings ~

Those must be very happy chickens since they have all that lovely grass. The meat chickens look like they will make for some good chicken dinners.

Dear Life is good!
The big white chickens in the pictures are the meat ones, the colored ones are going to be layers. We raise chickens for meat and eggs. Our chickens are MUCH healthier then the chickens you buy at your local supermarket. So, yes we have to eat them... it's a way of life. Thank you for visiting the blog! :) :)

Lovely little flock! My youngsters that I picked up just before Easter have just started laying (Well, the girls have. Of the six 'assorted pullets' I purchased, two turned into roos).

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm now following you and and have added you to my blog roll as well.
