A New Month

Happy September!

August went by so fast... as did the rest of the summer. I am so sad to say summer is pretty much over and so happy to say fall has arrived! The weather makes it seem like summer, but the days are becoming shorter and soon winter will be upon us. Winter is a whole other story, but anyway Happy September!
Regular pumpkin, still looks pretty big!

Speaking of fall, this year we are growing Big Max pumpkins they are coming along quite well. The only problem is they grow to be 300 pounds...how are we to get them out of the garden? LOL! We will think of something when the time comes. We are also growing Broom Corn and Indian Corn which are types of ornamental corn. Along with gourds and regular pumpkins.

With all these beautiful things you can make a cute little display like this

My pumpkins aren't doing very well. I'm still getting some starting, but I'm not sure how they'll finish. Yours looks good.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm growing giant pumpkins too and I think we'll lift them with the forks on our tractor. It's my first time growing giants.

I love your blog!

Read about your blog over at Brenda’s Cozy Little Cottage. Love your pumpkins. We grew Big Max pumpkins one year and got one so big around we could not pick it up...good luck! They are really neat pumpkins.

Hi, I'm v lucky to have discovered your blog, and decided to join the flock!

I have worked in the city all my life and on retirement became a farmer. Just started blogging to tell my farm stories.

You are doing very well with your vegies

I do not have racoons at my farm but wild boars and monkeys - just as irritating

Hello! Nice to 'meet' you. I've discovered your blog through Brenda at Cozy Little House and I'm glad I stopped by as you have a wonderful little blog here! I planted pumpkins for the first time this year...in fact I haven't had a vegetable garden for about 10 years. The bugs got to the before I realized the damage they could do so I lost them and my squash just after they started producing nicely. Next year I'll know what to do about that and get at it right away. I did manage to save a few of the mini white pumpkins though so I'll have a few of those to decorate with thank heavens. We also have chickens...right now we've got 25 with two roosters. Most are 5 month old Buff Orpingtons and Black Australorp with one 2 year old Barred Rock and 3 old Rhode Island Reds. The old ones lay here and there but the young ones are just starting to lay so we're getting approx 6-10 very small eggs a day. That will improve this month. I love my chickens! Anyway...I just wanted to stop by and say hello...I hope you'll drop over for a visit when you find time between farm chores ;). Have a great day and weekend....Maura :)

Love that pumpkin and the Fall decorating that you have done. Thank you for the ideas. When I find the Fall/Halloween boxes I'm going to haul stuff out and put it up and enjoy. And I love the big old window with the cut glass decorative top and beautiful trim!
