These are just a few of the MANY tomatoes that are to become salsa, spaghetti sauce, marinara sauce, or stewed tomatoes. We also have cucumbers coming for dill and bread & butter pickles. We are also going to be canning many more things so stay tuned!
This book looks awesome! You can enter in a drawing giveaway at http://mountainhomequilts.blogspot.com/ Which by the way is a very interesting blog so... go check it out! Also check out my poll and vote.

I love the ball book. I am going through seeds now for fall planting.
mmm... Summer home grown tomatoes! All that canning is a lot of work, but your kitchen will smell wonderful and you will be so glad to have the cupboard full of beautiful jars of goodness.
Our porch looks like your porch , the romas are taking over. I hope to make more salsa and spaghetti sauce next week. I see you have a guard over the tomatoes (LOL).

Oh yeah I have this book and love it! Great place to go if you do not have a family recipe to use up the extras.
I love the guard dog!
I don't eat tomatoes but I'm growing a ton of them. I feed them to my CHICKENS!
;-)
Love your doggy! My tomatoes are still all green. I don't know what's going on. I want to make salsa.
Enjoy the canning!
Oh goodness I haven't canned in over 10 years and I used to can everything. The most of one thing I did was 57 quarts of dill pickles...they didn't last the year! I bought a canner at a garage sale a year or so ago and I've got some jars and now I just need to get my tomatoes producing more so I can can. The birds ate all the fruit that was close to being ripe while we were on holidays so now I'm guarding my last pear tree from them. I'm glad we live in the country because if any one saw me yelling and jumping around trying to scare the flock of a few thousand (give or take a few) they'd think I was nuts! Anyway I may just go over and visit your blogging friend and enter that contest and if I don't win I'll just have to go buy my own. I saw your post on keeping rabbits cool...what a great idea. I wonder if my chickens would like that...but as you know they're not too bright. Thank heavens cuteness makes up for it. Enjoy your day...Maura :)
