In these hot August days, the heat can cause a lot of stress on animals. We have found some ways to keep bunnies cool and happy. Today the temps. reached over 90 degrees F and it felt like 100.
This is Skipper the rabbit(not such a great picture, but it shows the point.) She is licking a chunk of ice cubes. The rabbits seem to enjoy eating the ice and it cools them off.
Mr. Molly likes to rest his head and feet on the frozen water bottle. I just take used water bottles and fill them with water and pop them in the freezer. The rabbits really enjoy laying by them or even on them.

Need hints for keeping ME cool! Another day with heat index betw 100-105.
I tried adding you to my blog roll and it's not working, and another friend is having same issue. Any idea why?
I visited your blog today and I saw my blog on your list... I will check it out again and look into some things. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Oh gosh! I totally forgot about the frozen bottle thing for my poor bunny. The girls are out free ranging, and they always find a nice shady spot to lay. Thanks for the reminder!
The dogs outside have a pool. Everyone else just finds shade. It's just miserable!
Ted has a little pool too! He really enjoys it on those hot days.
We used to give our rabbit frozen bottles of water and the bunny would sleep next to them. We put ice cubes in our dogs water bowl and got her a cold water mat to sleep on that keeps her cool. The chickens have lots of water to drink and stay in the shade under the trees or under the house. Neat photos.
We use the frozen water bottle idea also.
I am new to your blog and am so enjoying reading through. Thanks for the many tips and ideas, your animals are truly well loved and cared for. Thank you for visiting me over at "Dog Trot Farm" I welcome any and all advice, a chicken keeper can never have too much advice. Have a great day,I will be back soon!
I absolutely love the ice and frozen water bottle idea for the bunnies. We have two and it's been brutal this summer for them. We are still in the 90's this week at Verde Farm so Bonnie and Darlene will have frozen bottles tomorrow. Thank you for sharing!
